Anxiety is a natural response, but when it becomes excessive and frequent, it means your anxiety response is over sensitive. When an over sensitive car alarm goes off with every gust of wind,  you get the alarm reset by a mechanic so it only goes off when needed.

What is anxiety?

Anxiety is increasing rapidly in modern society. The pace of modern life, job insecurity, the rapid change in technology and our environment to name a few, results in greater stress, especially when we feel we are unable to cope.

Anxiety is your fight or flight response in action. When our ancestors encountered a threat or attack their nervous system flooded with stress hormones that helped them to fight or take flight. We no longer have those same threats, instead the modern ones mentioned above, which stimulate the anxiety response.

Everyone of us has the capacity to respond with anxiety when there is an expected or perceived threat. Usually when that threat goes away, so does the anxiety.

But when you suffer from a debilitating state of anxiety that affects how you live, you need to learn ways to deal with it and think about it differently.
